Question 1

What areas does JG Flooring Solutions serve?

Accepted Answer

We're based in Charlotte, NC and cover roughly a 50-mile radius — including Ballantyne, Matthews, Waxhaw, Mooresville, Huntersville, Cornelius, Concord, Kannapolis, Salisbury, Albemarle, Statesville, Taylorsville, and Gastonia, plus Fort Mill and Rock Hill in South Carolina. We also take projects in Greensboro. If you're not sure whether you're in range, just call and ask.

Question 2

How much does new flooring cost?

Accepted Answer

Every home is different, so we don't quote from a price list. Cost depends on square footage, the material you choose, the condition of the subfloor, and whether old flooring has to come out first. We give free written estimates with the full price up front — no hidden charges once we start.

Question 3

Do you offer free estimates?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We come out, measure the space, check the subfloor, talk through materials and colors, and give you a written estimate at no cost and with no obligation. Call (973) 960-5635 to schedule one.

Question 4

Should I refinish my hardwood floors or replace them?

Accepted Answer

In most cases, refinishing. Solid hardwood can usually be sanded and refinished several times over its life, and it costs far less than a new floor. Replacement makes sense when the boards are too thin to sand again, when there's widespread water damage, or when you want to change the species or plank width. We'll tell you honestly which one your floor needs.

Question 5

How long does a hardwood refinishing job take?

Accepted Answer

For an average room or two, plan on three to five days. Sanding usually takes a day, staining a day, and then the polyurethane coats need time between them. You can normally walk on the floor in socks after about 24 hours, but furniture and rugs should wait — we'll give you exact timing for the finish we use on your job.

Question 6

How much dust does sanding create?

Accepted Answer

Far less than people expect. We use dust-contained sanding equipment that captures the great majority of it at the source, and we seal off the work area. It isn't perfectly dust-free — no sanding is — but you won't find a layer of it through the whole house.

Question 7

Can you install flooring over concrete?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Engineered hardwood and luxury vinyl both work well over concrete slabs, which is why they're common in basements and ground-floor rooms here. We moisture-test the slab first and use the right underlayment or moisture barrier — installing over a slab without testing it is how floors end up cupping later.

Question 8

Is vinyl plank a good choice for kitchens and bathrooms?

Accepted Answer

It's usually the best choice. Waterproof luxury vinyl plank handles spills, humidity, and pets without the swelling risk that solid hardwood carries in wet rooms. It also comes in convincing wood looks, so you can run it in a kitchen and keep the visual flow from the hardwood in the next room.

Question 9

Can you repair just the damaged section of my floor?

Accepted Answer

Almost always, yes. We cut out the damaged boards and weave in replacements so the repair blends into the surrounding pattern rather than showing as an obvious patch, then sand it flush and match the stain and sheen. It's a fraction of the cost of replacing the whole floor.

Question 10

Do I need to move my furniture?

Accepted Answer

No — that's part of the job. We move furniture out of the work area and protect what stays, and we clean up at the end of every day. For a full refinishing we'll talk through the schedule with you ahead of time so you know which rooms are usable when.

Question 11

What are your hours?

Accepted Answer

We're open Monday through Saturday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. If you call outside those hours, leave a message and we'll get back to you the next business day.

Question 12

Is JG Flooring Solutions insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. JG Flooring Solutions LLC is a registered North Carolina limited liability company and carries insurance. We're happy to provide documentation before your project starts.
